Principal's Message

Dear Commonwealth Avenue Elementary Families,

On behalf of the staff at Commonwealth Avenue Elementary School, we would like to welcome you and your child(ren) to the 2023 – 2024 school year. I hope that you and your family have a productive and successful school year as part of this great school network.

This year, we will continue the consistency of our school’s success by concentrating on the steps that helped improve our students’ achievement in a safe environment.  As a collaborative team, we will continue providing a rigorous standards, and data based instructional program by using the Common Core Standards Matrices with the Framework of Focus at the forefront.  By doing this, we will continue working to ensure our students are ready for middle school as our achievement goals will remain: 1) English Language Arts (focus on writing) and Mathematics Proficiency for all, 2) Reclassification and proficiency of Emergent Bilingual Students, and 3) Support to All students with the tools to academically succeed.  I firmly believe that with our goals in place along with our commitment to standards-based instruction, our students will continue to excel and maximize their full potential. This can be accomplished by communicating to both parents and students’ clear expectations in relation to academics and attendance. Finally, it is important as a school to foster a sense of community and belonging among both our staff and families. There will be district wide emphasis on socio-emotional learning and building stronger relationships with our community.
