Gifted/Highly Gifted/High Ability Arts & Technology Magnet Center Programs

Gifted Programs at Commonwealth Elementary

Commonwealth Elementary continually strives to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of all our students.  Our school offers two programs to meet the specific needs of our gifted, high achieving, and potentially gifted students:

Commonwealth Avenue Gifted Program

Commonwealth Gifted/Highly Gifted/High Ability Arts & Technology Magnet Center

Our home school students who are identified as gifted are clustered in classes in every grade level.  Gifted classes are comprised of students that are identified as Gifted in one of seven categories, demonstrate high academic achievement, exhibit potential for giftedness and/or are being screened for gifted testing.

Students who wish to enroll in our Gifted Magnet (grades 2-5) center must apply for enrollment through the yearly Choices (Magnet) Application process. Students must be identified as Gifted or meet specific Gifted Criteria in order to apply.

Click the above links for more information regarding our gifted programs.  If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact our Magnet/GATE Coordinator, Ms. Maldonado at 213-384-2546 or vmaldona@lausd.net.
